Speed, agility, endurance and strength. These are the qualities you need to train to become a high level athlete. Unfortunately when it comes to self programming, it is near on impossible to balance these qualities on a week to week basis. Most athletes will likely focus on the one quality they know best and leave the rest severely neglected. We at Jackson Athletic Performance understand the strategies to develop young and emerging athletes and reach their highest potential.


ABOUT


Since I was young I have been a keen runner and athlete. I had a high achieving junior sport career where I received dozens of accolades for football and athletics. When I was 15 I began lifting weights non intelligently for my sport and couldn’ t understand why by the time I was 17 it had a large negative impact on my footy ability and I started to suffer from lower back pain. Soon after my passion to make AFL wained.

When I turned 26 I decided to make a return to playing high quality football, now older and a little wiser and with 4 years under my belt learning how to use the gym for hypertrophy purposes. I began to invest a lot of time in studying and learning how an athlete might train in preparation for their sport. This journey took me to Melbourne where I was coached in human movement and biomechanics and to Ludus Sports Performance in Perth where I was coached how to develop qualities such as speed, strength, endurance and agility.



In addition, to work out the source of my persistant lower back pain I have seen many chiros and physios.  This sent me down the journey of studying/reading and learning human anatomy, in particular the pelvis region. I have had the fortune of learning from some fantastic mentors in these areas which solidified my philosophy of building my athletes a good foundation of balance, posture, biomechanics and body homeostasis.

After some education in nutrition, I decided to start a career in coaching and achieved my Certificate 4 in Exercise Fitness and started Jackson Athletic Performance. Combined with a passion for training and learning as well as a lifetime of trial and error I can confidently make a meaningful difference to aspiring athletes in the South West who desire to play elite level sport.
